This effectively now pitches the XB3 directly in line with the JBL Charge 3 and the UE Boom 2 on loudness. Sony also goes on to add that this is particular tuned for modern dance floor and EDM tracks, more about this on the sound test section. ![]() The XB3 is the first Sony where the output is 30W (all models in the past range were max 20W) and works i n the same manner on battery or when charged.ĮXTRABASS is the new thing with the XB3 and Sony claims the BASS boost has been achieved by a combination of specially tuned woofers and radiators coupled with the Sony DSP processing. The range 2015/16 range of speakers from Sony maxed out at 20W output for models which operated similar on battery and when on charge, while models that offered higher outputs the X55/X77 etc offered lower outputs on battery but the amp got into full power only when it was being charged. While LDAC is offered by Sony on other more expensive models, the XB3 and XB2 were the first models to feature this in the lower price bracket. “LDAC™ audio coding technology developed by Sony, which allows transmission of up to around three times the data volume of existing technologies, and was the first in the world to offer audio quality in the Hi-Res class using Bluetooth Audio”. I have extracted why the LDAC can be important by the following quote from Sony, The key factor Sony shouts about is the larger 48mm full range woofers it uses, the audio processing engine to boost bass (megabass) and Sony’s LDAC Bluetooth technology for high-resolution audio streaming. The XB3 audio hardware layout is pretty much standard for the class, with dual woofers and dual passive radiators. The XB3 product replaces the X33 (and X3) speakers, but by the likes of it, it might be a viable option for the very good X55 as well if you want similar audio volume but in a more outdoor oriented packaging. Sony seems to have made a decision that the outdoor oriented market was a better space, and the new XB series is geared towards this. Sony past models X33 and the X3 were very good speakers that focused as more affordable alternatives to the the Bose SoundLink Mini market, rather than the outdoor friendly market. The Sony XB3 is a new series of Portable Bluetooth speakers from Sony that has been geared to take on the JBL Charge/UE Boom market. ![]() ![]() ![]()
![]() …or they could punt: Let Zapier, et al., deal with the headache of maintaining bidirectional interfaces with thousands of systems, and concentrate their integration efforts on providing a useful and robust API, to allow integration services to make as efficient use of Airtable as possible. Quite possibly you would reach a point where development resources that should be going to maintain and enhance the core product would instead be spent on maintaining an interface to a handful of sites used by a handful of customers. An Airtable-provided integration front-end would either have to be extremely agile - in the old-school sense - to be flexible enough to handle all contingencies, or it would risk not supporting an important subset of sites. Each system with an API has its own eccentricities: Maximum calls per second, maximum requests per call segmenting of large responses blocking and flow control error recovery and the like. And while an API gets you 80% of the way there, it only gets you 80%. Could Airtable write its own? Quite possibly - but they are database experts, not integration experts. …or Integromat, or any of the other countless SaaS integrators. Sure! It’s called Zapier. But, like all APIs, it’s designed for a programmatic interface. There is a way to get that information into Airtable: It’s called the Airtable API. Well, the OMDB API provides you that data in either JSON or XML format any structured presentation is the work of the browser or browser extension. However, building a simple interface between Airtable and another supported site - and I’ve integrated with a number of Google services, the US Postal Service, and others - is typically less than an hour’s work the first time around. ![]() ![]() I’ve never tried to integrate with IMDB, so I don’t know which services support that end-point. Most work the same way: By providing pre-packaged endpoint integrations - for instance, to Airtable on one end and IMDB on the other, with both linked to a common data abstraction in the middle - and then allowing you to pass data through the central abstract data layer in the middle so as to complete the circuit. Each has its own constellation of strengths and weaknesses: price, UI/UX, number of canned integrations, quality of documentation, polling cycle, and the like. Two of the ones most frequently mentioned here are Zapier and Integromat - but if you wanted, you could spend the rest of 2019 doing nothing but evaluating competing options. I unzipped it, pointed SheepShaver to it, and was well on my way. After all, running Classic Mode programs is what this is all about!Ī hunt online got me a number of dead ends but eventually led me to a downloadable “New World PPC ROM”. But TomeViewer is a Classic Mode program – if all you’ve got is an Intel Mac or a PowerPC Mac with Leopard (which is my situation), you can’t make it work. The recommended way is to use a utility called TomeViewer. Apple has a Mac OS ROM Update available online that is also supposed to be usable in this way, but you need to be able to extract the ROM image from the software installer. It didn’t work for me – all I got was a black screen when I tried to start up SheepShaver. But you may want to emulate a PowerPC Mac because you don’t have access to an actual running computer of that era.Īlternatively, the firmware updater file included in the Mac OS 8.5 or 8.6 CD (in the System Folder) is supposed to be usable as a ROM image. If you have access to a PowerPC Mac from that late 1990s era, you could, presumably, make an image using the ROM Grabber utility. You need the ROM image in order to allow your emulated Mac to start the boot process – where standard Windows-style PCs have fairly simple ROM BIOSes, PowerPC Macs need access to a hunk of Apple-written (and Apple copyright) code before they start to load the operating system. In order to make it work, you need to download a copy appropriate for your hardware and operating system, have handy a copy of the Mac operating system (versions 7.5.2 through 9.0.4 – and not a copy that’s tied to a specific piece of hardware), and access to a Mac ROM image. SheepShaver is an open source project designed to emulate Power Mac hardware with versions for Mac OS X, Linux, Windows, and more. So I thought it might be time to give SheepShaver another look. I recently bought a secondhand 12″ G4 PowerBook (more on that another time) it came with Mac OS X 10.4 installed, but I upgraded it to 10.5, thus nuking its Classic Mode capabilities. But now, if you’ve upgraded to Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, your PowerPC Mac will also be Classic-less. At that time, if you had a PowerPC Mac, you could still run older software in Classic Mode if needed. While many of us no longer rely on old Classic mode software, Apple gives Classic mode even less support than at the time I wrote that article. ![]() While SheepShaver, promising emulation of Macs from the late 1990s, would seem a better solution than Basilisk – emulating Macs from the 1980s through early 1990s – I noted in that article: “I’ve been trying to make (SheepShaver) work. In it, I noted that the then-new Intel-powered Macs were unable to run older Mac software in called Classic Mode, but that there were at least a couple of ways to get around that, including Basilisk II, which emulates old 680×0 Macs, and SheepShaver, which emulates newer pre-OS X PowerPC Macs. Early in 2006, I wrote an article for Low End Mac entitled VNC, Basilisk II, and SheepShaver: 3 Ways to Run Classic on an Intel Mac. ![]() ![]() ![]() Though the monospot test is considered to be a very specific test, the sensitivity falls in the range of 70 to 90% and is particularly weak among children under the age of four years old. When these specific antibodies are present in the patient's blood specimen, exposure to equine erythrocytes will lead to clumping of the sample, thus signaling a positive agglutination reaction. I dont recommend these to anyone who is considering them if for no other reason than Lorex support is clueless and doesn't care. Unless you have little to no internet bandwidth or access, the quality and accessibility of much cheaper cameras like Next or Wyze makes Lorex a dinosaur in this business, and the meteor has come. I'm a little sad because of how much time and money we spent hard wiring the whole house with ethernet cables for the 6 Lorex cams we have.we'll leave them running and connected to the DVR in case we ever need to reference the cams for anything, but at this point we stopped trying to view them remotely. We've just been trying to get as much use out of the LNR380 we bought 6 years ago, but it appears Lorex just doesn't care anymore so we're giving up. Lorex cameras are so antiquated now by comparison to high def cloud cams with seamless app integration I dont know why anyone would still buy them. I've given up and started buying Nest cams to replace the Lorex cams. They had no clue why after trying literally everything mentioned in these threads and more. It just says "failed to connect" every time. I spent hours on the phone with Lorex tech support and they cannot get the Lorex Cloud app to connect on any of my devices, Android or iOS. ![]() |
